Sclerotherapy and foam therapy

SCLEROTHERAPY: The famous Dutch specialist Dr. Leo van Rozelaar has developed a very simple, effective and especially friendly method of sclerotherapy: The physician injects some drops of the liquid with a thin and tiny needle into the varicous vein. The treatment only lasts 10 minutes and the patients are able to follow their business immediatly after it. If there is an enlarged vein, we apply a bandage for one week. After removal the body absorbs the closed vein. If there are spider veins to be treated, we only apply a band aid for one day. There is no need for bandage or stockings. The very small vessels can be treated with laser as well.

FOAM THERAPY: The sclerotherapy with foam is a relatively new treatment. In our center we perform the method of Prof. Dr. Mingo from Spain. Instead of liquid a foam is injected. With duplex ultrasound we can see the foam spreading in the expanded vein. Even the very big varicous veins can be addressed by this method.

The therapy is very convenient, as we inject the foam with only one little stitch. A bandage for about one week is recommended. We could learn from the latest studies, that the success of this kind of sclerotherapy is very long lasting. It has become more and more an effective alternative for vein surgery.

After the treatment a white stocking has to be worn. It supports a faster closure of the varicous vein and inhibits thrombosis. For the next week a lot of walking is recommended. If patients like to do some sports, they should avoid sweating beneath the bandage. A protection can be put on while taking a shower, so there is no restriction in daily life. After one week the bandage can be removed and patients often feel small and smooth nodes. They should be creamed with a special ointment distributed by our stuff. After some weeks the closed varicous vein will be absorbed by the tissue. The physicians recommend wearing soft compressing stockings during the colder season and having some medication made of plants during the warmer season.
